SPOILER WARNING FOR THE PLOT OF “THE WITCHER: FAREWELL OF THE WHITE WOLF”
The endings of Farewell of the White Wolf
The White Wolf’s Farewell can have different endings depending on a crucial choice during the wedding party. After Ciri gives her gift, she asks where Geralt will plant the apple seeds from the Isle of Malus – and his answer will shape his and Yennefer’s future. All endings can be considered as good and happy, it will depend on the player’s personal preference of how the story will end.
It was all a dream
If Geralt answers “Not sure. That island was important to us” you will have the ending where Geralt and Yennefer wake up together on the Isle of Malus, where Geralt remembers the events of the three games and the DLC like a dream. He tells Yennefer everything that happened, but over time he forgets the details, but resigns himself – after all, the two are well and at peace among their ever-blooming apple trees.
This ending can be embraced by the most purist readers, who can find a way to justify the inconsistencies between games and books as a result of the fertile creativity of Geralt’s unconscious mind. However, avid fans of games may not like the choice that says that everything they went through was not real – for them, there are two other possible endings.
There’s no place like home
At the end of the Blood and Wine DLC, we see Geralt settle into his new vineyard with someone special – in this case, of course, that someone is Yennefer. When choosing “Might plant them in Corvo Bianc.”, the player will have the domestic ending, where Geralt and Yennefer spend the rest of their lives in the calm and peaceful Toussaint. Geralt has a room for his armors, weapons and trophies and he and Yennefer cook together in the kitchen.
And of course, the couple’s happiness would not be complete without the visit of their beloved daughter Ciri, their grandson Creggenan and a possible son-in-law (Hjalmar or Galahad – find out how to choose Ciri’s romance routes here). We see the happy family at the table in Corvo Bianco and an old Dandelion finishing his final work. One happily ever after, with references to Geralt’s dream in the book Time of Contempt.
Season of Storms
The third ending references the highly discussed finale of Season of Storms, with quotes taken directly from the book. To see this ending, just choose the option “Could plant them by Vesemir’s grave”. This ending indicates Geralt’s desire to continue working as a Witcher, but we still see Yennefer’s presence at his side – as they read a letter received from a great-great-granddaughter who is studying in Aretuza.
The link between their granddaughter and the end of Storm Storms is the young Nimue – who we know will play an important role in the story in The Lady of the Lake. Geralt saves her and, just like in the book, says that evil will never leave the world and witchers will always be needed. The ending also references the famous trailer “A Night to Remember“, showing the scars that Geralt acquired from fighting the vampire (which everyone believes to be Orianna, from the DLC Blood and Wine).
